Last April, a nationwide campaign was launched to find an ambassador for the new Lise Watier Something Sweet perfume, a light, fresh and delicious fragrance. Young women across Canada were invited to be photographed in the Something Sweet environment at their favourite Shoppers Drug Mart drugstore and then submit their application online with Instagram. More than 400 candidates submitted their photos online! Judges were looking for somebody that would embody the light-hearted spirit of Something Sweet with her colourful personality.

I was expecting to see a tall, very slim and “perfect in every way” young woman destined for an international model career, somebody that would meet all the usual standards… But I was pleasantly surprised to see the winner, Jessica Kruger, a resident of British Columbia.

I absolutely wanted to share this good news with you, dear readers (even if I usually never talk about perfumes), because I’m so happy with this choice! Jessica is a true inspiration for all of us. With Jessica as ambassador, Lise Watier seems to be even closer to the people and its clients. This is a first for the cosmetics industry, as no young woman like Jessica has ever held this kind of post before.

Jessica Kruger is not only pretty with her radiant and angelic face, but she is also a brilliant university student as well as a great rugby player. And the icing on the cake, she gives motivational sessions for different BC foundations, like the WorSafeBC and the Rick Hansen Foundations. And she accomplishes all of this brilliantly despite her handicap. Jessica Kruger is quadriplegic. “I have all the character traits that Lise Watier is looking for to represent Something Sweet, but choosing me also means choosing to embrace diversity and changing the world’s perception about what a model should be”, said Jessica Kruger.

She dazzled the panel of judges with her infectious enthusiasm, unfailing positive energy, determination and eloquence and because she represents the Lise Watier brand values. This effervescent young woman is definitely the “Something Sweet” they were looking for!

Jessica landed a 6 month contract for the brand. We should see her everywhere very soon! I can’t wait! 🙂
